Report an Incident

The offices reviewing these reports do not respond directly to emergencies. If you are in immediate danger or know someone who is in extreme distress, call 911 or contact UNC Charlotte Police and Public Safety at 704‑687‑2200 or via the LiveSafe app.

Any UNC Charlotte student, staff, or faculty member can submit a report through incidentreport.charlotte.edu. The landing page allows reporters to choose the form that best matches the type of incident or information they wish to report, based on the behavior or observations they want to bring to the university’s attention. Reports are immediately received in our system and are typically reviewed the next business day.

Once a report is received, a University staff member will review it and determine the appropriate next steps. You and any witnesses identified in the report may be contacted for additional information. To help us follow up with the appropriate resources or request further details, you will be asked to securely verify your NinerNet credentials or provide contact information before submitting the report.

Educational records related to an individual student are protected and shall be maintained pursuant to University Policy 402, Student Education Records (FERPA), including limited exceptions that permit disclosure without a student’s consent. Any information regarding the resolution of a report will not be shared with you without the written consent of the student(s) involved or pursuant to one of the limited exceptions.

Anonymous Reporting

Anonymous referrals may limit the University’s ability to appropriately respond to the referral. Anonymous reports can be submitted to Police and Public Safety through the LiveSafe app.

Additionally, RealResponse lets you submit information anonymously and supports two-way conversations via text. This allows you to stay in touch with university staff who can assist with your concerns while maintaining your anonymity.
